These drivers have been far and away the most popular of all of the Mark Audio drivers since their inception, with a low cost of entry and many many plans and examples of use available, Here are a few plans either hosted here or links to pages on other sites. The CHR-70 (Gen. 3) has now been updated three times since the first model was launched nearly three years back and continues to be one of the most popular wide band drivers of this size available. This Gen. 3 driver has more high range performance. An excursion limiter (arrestor) has now been fitted inside the motor sub-assembly, significantly reducing the risk of over-driving damage. The CHR is now capable of being driven at higher loads making it suitable for more audio applications.  The frequency range now goes higher to 25-kHz. Bass response in the properly designed box can go low to just under 40Hz. It has a light easy sound, a little warm, not so “shaped” so it will suit the listening tastes of many people. Its cone gives much musical detail and makes a very clear sound.

The driver has a medium efficiency of 85.5dB at 8 Ohms making it easy to use on nearly all small to medium power amplifiers. The driver can easily fit into Bass-reflex and Vented box sizes from 4.4 liters to 10 liters internal volume.

Many technical improvements has been made. Improved stiffer frame. New cap design with new improved fitting method,  new Japanese designed coil and new spider for improved bass.

The new CHR-70 Gen. 3 is an excellent high-end and multi-purpose driver. It’s also suitable for many computer, Home Theatre, TV, and commercial A/V applications.

Small to medium sized speakers are usually lower power designs. The power rating is given in the technical data for each audio driver. For a reliable long service life, please operate your new speakers with care. For the first 100 hours, operate them at very low volumes. After this period, gradually increase the volume to a normal listening level. If you see the cone of the speakers making large movements, immediately turn the volume down. This will protect the speaker and your human hearing from damage. Factory mechanical defects for a period of 1 year. Excessive hard use (over-driving) and other damage caused during customer use is excluded from our warranty.
