Maple and Leather Frugel Horn XL’s
Here are some images from a build one of our recent customers built from one of our kits. We made some custom PU/Leather effect baffles for the customer which meant customising the kit slightly, but other than that building and veneering the kit is all their own work. When they sent the photos they said ‘its fair to say I am only an average DIYer so may encourage some folk to have a go.’ As you can see from the finish they achieved it’s well within the competence of most folk.
The veneer used here is a PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) backed veneer which for the new veneer user is ideal. You can cut the parts roughly to size with the release paper still in place and get everything lined up before peeling the paper off and applying some pressure.
The customer added ‘They do sound really good, for the money a steal really. They are very sweet in the mids and bass is more than ample in my room and very quick, been hearing little bits of detail that eluded my other speakers. Not had much chance to compare with other speakers other than the ones I am using temporarily, but they make them sound ploddy.‘

One of our OEM customers, Out of the Woodwork, build restaurant and bar interiors which are rather special, they use our Mark Audio drivers to produce a superior sound for the restaurant goers. They’ve also made the the odd custom audio project for customers, like the boom box pictured here.
AR 22 Tribute
These images are of some cabinets I built for a customer recently based upon the legendary classic AR22 speakers. They were baltic birch ply with black valchromat baffles which were machined for the drivers at the front and the plate amp at the back. They were veneered in white ash and oiled with Danish Oil. The midrange driver is a Cotswold Audio full range BMR, the tweeter is a Peerless /Vifa NE19-VTS-04 which is tiny and allows a very small centre to centre distance between itself and the BMR. The Woofer is and excellent SB Acoustics SB23NRXS45-8 which works well in this sealed alignment.
